This building design is based on the archipelago concept that represents the diversity of Indonesia and the changing traditional wisdom by learning from sustainable principles of Indonesian traditional architecture. These concepts are combined with high-tech building shape to respond to the building functions. Discovery World's 'green' design concepts include utilising solar energy with photovoltaic panels on the roof; utilising rain and grey water for landscape and building maintenance, using alternative energy such as wind with integrated wind turbines; and also integrating the building with nature by applying vegetation on the roof and facade. The development emphasises the existing greenery by embedding new vegetation and highlighting the atmosphere of tropical landscape that stimulates the five senses.
This futuristic building will accommodate approximately 6,000 quests. The Discovery World of Taman Mini Indonesia will house edutainment and education functions with high-end technology, providing a creative educational journey that will hopefully inspire and motivate the younger generation.
